Sometimes, making a repair on a home requires going to some length, possibly even going down to the foundation. It may ultimately require some demolition, scaffolding, tools, and materials. And the labor involved can be significant.
So it is with correcting false doctrine. Just scabbing error with a Scripture or two is not sufficient to fully correct it. Correction may require a series of lessons. People believe wrongly because of failure to interpret Scripture properly. Therefore, they will need an improved method of interpretation. But, as in repairing a home, whatever effort is needed to repair one’s spiritual house, the result is worth it. The spiritual house we build must be able to endure any storm and not fall (Matthew 7:24-27). And, the greatest storm to assail one’s spiritual house is the Judgment. We must build correctly according to the Word of God, rightly interpreted (1Timothy 4:16). Thankfully, the Bible lends itself to correct interpretation to those who will apply due diligence (2Timothy 2:15). Nothing we will ever undertake will be more important (Hebrews 2:3).
